Sal Sunday 🐵
Sal is continuing to settle in with his foster mom, and the difference in him since meeting her has been incredible to watch. With his dark little face and wispy fur to his ever-growing confidence, he’s slowly growing up.
As we focus on Dreamland this week, we’re reminded of just how important a space like this is. Sal would have spent time in Dreamland after his arrival, likely for months, as he battled breathing complications which ultimately lead him to being a bowl baby, low body weight and needing antibiotics.
Today, it’s hard to believe he’s the same little monkey who arrived so fragile and unwell.
The foundations for Dreamland are now in place, but we’re still fundraising to bring this vision fully to life. Every donation helps create a safe, specialised space for future orphans like Sal who need time, care, and a little extra help ⭐️

Dreamland Starts Here ⭐️
For those who need it most: the orphaned, injured, vulnerable, and lost ❤️🩹
Each year we welcome orphans whose worlds have been turned upside down, arriving in our care grieving their mothers, scared, and unsure in a completely new environment
Some settle quickly, like Terry, who bonded with his monkey foster mum just a week after arriving. Others, like Maddie, Jyperd & Yogi, need months of specialised care, patience, and gentle healing before they begin to find their footing again.
That’s why we’re building Dreamland - a dedicated space where our most vulnerable residents can rest, recover, and receive the specialised care they need.
The work has begun, but we still need your help to bring this vision to life.
If you’d like to support Dreamland, you can donate here:

Whether you choose to donate, share this post, or shop from our wishlist, every act of support helps create a safe haven for those who need it most 💚
Dreamland is more than a building. It’s a place where trust is rebuilt, confidence grows, and second chances begin.
Thank you for being part of the Dreamland journey. We can’t wait to show you what we can achieve together 🫶

World Environment Day 🌍🌿
Vervet monkeys are more than just beautiful wildlife - they’re seed dispersers, habitat helpers, and an important part of South Africa’s natural ecosystems.
By protecting vervets, preserving wild spaces, and embracing sustainable practices like solar energy and veganism, we’re helping create a future where wildlife and nature can thrive together.
Every species matters. Every habitat counts. 💚

Finding Their Place 💚
Watching the orphans release into troop is always a special moment. Kristi and Griffin both arrived after losing their mums when they were just a few months old. As determined little monkeys, they struggled with bottle feeding and spent some time as ‘coconut water babies’.
They quickly formed a close bond with Hazel in the IC (you can see her lovingly hugging Kristi here), along with last year’s orphan Mia.
Since joining the troop, both babies have grown in confidence, spending time in the trees and in the arms of Cheyenne, Cotton, and Okoye, among others.
Compared to other orphans their age, they’re especially affectionate and cuddly - often found eating, climbing or snuggled up on the belly.
We can’t wait to share more updates as they continue settling into troop life 🫶🐒
Tongue Out Tuesday: Olaf 👅
This Tuesday, we’re featuring Olaf, an orphan from last season. His tongue is barely peaking out but it definitely counts for today!
Olaf arrived with injuries from a snare, and a seizure just hours after his arrival had the team on edge. You can still see the cloudiness in his eye today, a reminder of how far he has come.
Despite his difficult start, Olaf has grown into a super playful boy. He especially loves our newest arrival, Manu, spending hours playing together and happily taking on the role of big brother.
We’re proud of the resilient, mischievous young vervet he’s become 🫶
Dear Maddie 👑
We are so proud of you, little one 🫶
When you arrived in January, you were alone, cold and wet, facing skin and digestive issues that are still causing challenges for you today. Since then, you’ve shown incredible strength and determination, and we’re right beside you every step of the way.
We can tell you are starting to feel better as you are becoming so playful, cheeky, and full of personality. You’re now initiating play with your carers, pulling the cutest faces, and growing stronger every day 🥹
Just a month ago, you struggled to pull yourself back up if you slipped from a branch. Now you’re confidently balancing, climbing, and jumping around the ropes. You’ve also reached an amazing 700g, and your appetite keeps growing! Although you’re currently experiencing a flare-up, you continue to show us just how strong you are.
Every improvement brings you closer to meeting Buffy, though there’s still a little way to go.
Maddie, you’ve come so far, but we know there is still work to do. No matter what challenges lie ahead, we’ll continue supporting you, cheering you on and helping you every step of the way. Watching you become stronger, happier, and more mischievous each week is a joy 💕
Keep fighting little one, we couldn’t be prouder of you, or of the team working so hard to help you on your journey 🫶
Farli showing off her playful and curious side 🐵
The Koko girlies are doing well, and they’re most often spotted together, playing in the trees, exploring their surroundings and stopping for a drink side by side.
It’s incredible to think that these three little souls arrived frightened, uncertain, and alone after losing their families to road accidents and shootings. Today, Georgie, Gigi, and Farli are thriving together as part of a troop, enjoying the second chance they deserve.
Their journey is only possible because of the dedicated people who give their time to help. By volunteering with us, you become part of stories like theirs - providing care, enrichment, observation, and support that helps orphaned primates heal, grow, and eventually find their place among others. Every volunteer plays a role in giving animals like Georgie, Gigi, and Farli the opportunity to leave their difficult beginnings behind and build a brighter future.
Georgie, Gigi & Farli are living their second chance and with your help, many more can too ❤️🐒
