Become a part of VMF Legacy Tree by remembering the monkeys in your will and trust
Throughout the years, the Vervet Monkey Foundation has been extremely grateful for generous bequests made to us by departed supporters. These gifts have gone towards new enclosures and other affairs around the foundation. Some of these bequests were made in honour of a loved one who was dedicated to helping the vervets.
Remembering the VMF in your will or trust can make a lasting impact for our monkeys while keeping your memory alive. Gifts can be restricted (i.e. designated to renovate an enclosure, towards a new VMF vehicle, etc) or unrestricted (i.e. where you trust the VMF to use your gift to address its greatest needs). Both types of gifts can make a significant impact on the lives of our monkeys and the foundation’s conservation efforts. All members of the Legacy Tree are commemorated with a plaque at our communal volunteer area. You can also request donations be made to the VMF in lieu of funeral flowers and bouquets.
Your legacy gifts can help the VMF accomplish the following:
- A gift of 1,000 GBP will help us purchase an additional hectare of land for the Vervet Forest
- 2,500 GBP will cover the costs of local fresh produce for our 600 monkeys for 3 months time
- A gift of 5,000 GBP will help rebuild and renovate one of our older onsite enclosures
- By pledging 10,000 GBP, you could help us purchase a new VMF vehicle to assist with necessary day-to-day chores like rescuing injured or orphaned monkeys, collecting food and volunteers from town and much more
Our team is honoured by every bequest-large or small and will use every cent to help our amazing monkeys…
Former volunteer Mark von Bucher passed away in a tragic accident. Knowing how fond he was of the monkeys and the foundation, his family decided to honour his memory through a donation to the VMF. Thanks to the generosity of Mark’s family, we were able to construct the “Bachelor Block”- a dual roomed enclosure perfect for monkeys that prefer to be separate from the larger monkey troops. Two male monkeys, Kesie and Eddy are currently living happily as next door neighbours in the Bachelor Block and get lots of love and extra care from the volunteer team.
