Are you interested in visiting the foundation but unable to stay for several weeks? In addition to longer term volunteer stays (4+ weeks), the Vervet Monkey Foundation also offers shorter stays for those who are interested in experiencing life at the foundation.
If you’re just in the area for an afternoon, we do offer tours of the sanctuary, usually lasting 45-60 minutes at a cost of R150 per adult (R100 for children). Free for under 5 year-olds when accompanied by an adult. During these guided tours, you will see many of our monkeys and some of the work we do, as well as talk about the threats facing vervets and wildlife in South Africa today.
If you’re able to stay longer, we do have other visiting opportunities including half days, full day volunteering (including overnight stay) and long weekend volunteer stays (2 days and 2 nights). During your stay, you will work closely with our staff to care for the animals, offering enrichment, assisting with integrations and passing out baby milk bottles (and much more) During your stay, you will be staying in one of our cabins onsite and all food will be provided, including delicious vegan meals. These immersive experiences will show you sanctuary life first hand and give you the opportunity to meet our fantastic monkeys, as well as our hardworking international volunteer and staff teams.
